R2I Dilemma: Is it possible.....

Hello,

I have been following this forum for quite some time and I must say this is great place to get support.

In most cases, R2I is not easy decision to take and it requires as much support as possible.
Here is background about me –
Came to US of A to do Masters in 2003 and as routine, got job, got married, bought house and settled down.
Son is 4 years old and Daughter will turn 2 next month. Husband is working as Senior Manager in IT.
I have full time work from home job for a Payer company.

Husband and I are from Hyderabad. My parents, in-laws and even extended family circle (from both sides) are in Hyderabad.
Even though we are very happy right now, we badly miss family back in India. Thank GOD we both have same idea of going back for good.

We got GC in March 2012 and can apply for citizenship in March 2017.
So here is the plan we have in mind –
I will take kids and go back in March 2016. Son will be 7. We don’t want to delay any further since it will become difficult for him to settle down.
Husband will get Citizenship and will return in 2017.

I will be responsible for settling down process in India while he will be responsible for selling house and wrapping up things here.

Here are my concerns and questions –

When we discuss this with friends here, people are asking questions like “WHY?”. Why do you guys want to go back? None of our friends want to go back.
Do we need to have a reason to go back home? There should be a reason to leave home, like money or career or whatever , but should we need reason to go back.
In the process to justify our return, I am getting concerned if we are taking right step. We will go back for sure, but all this negative discussions with friends will make settle down process difficult (I guess).

My second question – I have no idea if I can continue working for same company from India. I think it is too early to discuss this with my manager.
Any help I can get on this question, would be appreciated. I don’t want to apply for citizenship, but if it helps to get citizenship, so I can continue working from India, then I will take it.
Do I need to pay tax both in US and India? Do I need to become a consultant instead of full time, so I can work from India? I don’t mind working as per US times from India.

Thanks.
